Growing up with one parent serving in the military, frequent relocation became the norm for director Elisha Smith-Leverock. For Elisha, being on the move deeply influenced their understanding of culture and capacity to connect with others.

Being able to grasp new trends intuitively contributed to their filmmaking process and bolstered their ability to make the ordinary cinematically extraordinary across fiction and non-fiction work.

Having initially started out as a photographer, Elisha has gone on to build an award-winning portfolio, honing in on their cinematic style with every job they take on. Their passion for art direction and cinematography is evident as each project is considered yet highly standout. Elisha’s client list includes Airbnb, Carlsberg, Paris Fashion Week, Dove, and eBay, to name a few.

Fearless when it comes to their work, Smith-Leverock tackles topics like representation and gender stereotypes with depth and sensitivity. They are known for award-winning pieces such as their NOWNESS short ‘Triple Beam Dream’ for Bronx collective Ghetto Gastro and their short doc Miss Black Germany, which has gone on to win several awards and has screened at prestigious festivals like BlackStar.

Recently Elisha launched their first foray into episodic TV directing episodes of “Schwarze Früchte,” an 8-part dramedy about two queer and Black friends in their 20s striving to become their true selves. The series will have its world premiere at the 2024 Tribeca Festival.
